Hi everybody, I'm Robert Brighton and thanks for clicking on the tab called The Mosquito God. I hope you were curious about that. Well, that's the title of a forthcoming novel that I've just begun working on. And my publisher came up with, I think, a great idea.
They said to me, in addition to the course on Reading and Writing with Robert Brighton, which gives you all the basic building blocks of what it takes to be a better writer and a more mindful reader, they said, why don't you let yourself be filmed as you write the new novel.
Effectively, your subscribers will look over your shoulder as you compose the new novel, which is called The Mosquito God.
Set in the Gilded Age, as most of my books are, all my books are so far, and it takes place partly in Washington, D.C. and partly in Panama around the time of the Panama Canal handover when the Americans came in.
Anyway, it's an interesting book, but more than that, as I document the process of going through, of going through creating, editing, and finalizing this book, you'll pick up things that I could never know to put in a course. So the course (Reading and Writing with Robert Brighton) is great, and I think of it as a foundation. I really urge you to watch all of those episodes.
The Mosquito God videos are almost like putting that course into practice because you're going to see how I take the principles that I'm teaching you in Reading and Writing with Robert Brighton and use them myself as I'm writing a novel. So you'll see I eat my own cooking. Actually, I eat my wife's cooking which is a lot better than mine. But in this case, I eat my own cooking and I will tell you that you will learn a ton of stuff from the course because those are all the basic building blocks and I think you'll learn just as much if not more by actually watching as I cross every hurdle that a writer has to get over to complete a finished novel.
